Automate repeated work

Use the API when the same calculation needs to run inside your product or workflow.

What is waist-to-hip ratio?

WHR is waist circumference divided by hip circumference in the same unit. It is a unitless index of central versus lower-body girth used in metabolic-risk screening.

Why does hip circumference of zero fail?

Division by zero is undefined. This tool returns invalid_input when hip is zero or non-positive instead of inventing an infinite ratio.

Which risk thresholds are used?

Female: low below 0.80, moderate from 0.80, high at 0.85 and above. Male: low below 0.90, moderate from 0.90, high at 1.00 and above. These are WHO-aligned screening bands, not a diagnosis.

Do centimetres and inches change the result?

No, if both measurements use the same unit. The ratio is unitless; the optional unit field is only a label echoed in the response.

Is the waist-to-hip ratio calculator free?

The browser tool is free and runs locally. API calls use prepaid KIT balance at $0.002 per successful request; failed tasks are never charged.

Everything on this page is available programmatically. This section is for teams who want to wire it into their own systems; everyone else can just use the tool above.

POSThttps://api.kit.forhosting.com/health/waist-hip-ratio

Prefer to automate it? One authenticated POST creates the task; the result comes back by webhook or a signed link. The same capability also runs here on the web, by email and from Telegram — and soon from our app too.

curl -X POST https://api.kit.forhosting.com/health/waist-hip-ratio \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $KIT_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"waist":80,"hip":100,"sex":"female"}'

  "type": "health.waist_hip_ratio",
  "status": "queued",

    "result": "/tasks/tsk_…/result"
  }
}

The API is asynchronous: the call returns a task_id immediately and the result arrives by webhook. Polling is capped at 1 req/s per task.
